I think the biggest struggle with ADHD is developi

I think the biggest struggle with ADHD is developing self-control and discipline. For people pretending that they have it, it isn’t a trend. If you don’t have it, you don’t. Don’t use it as an excuse for your lack of order.

What separates me from a lot of the rest is my refusal to call it a disability. I call it a gift that comes with a price. Our lives are set in higher difficulty but when we hyper-fixate, we learn things pretty quick. We are the best learners of the world.

Having late diagnosis, I’ve already developed workarounds for my lapses so that I can live independently as a functional individual. I love puzzles and I find that my mind is a jumbled mess that’s quite interesting to solve.

Though I may appear orderly and disciplined in my chosen environments, I wasn’t always like this. To cope, I chose to live by routine and picked goals that directly contradict my bad habits until they slowly withered away. I lead a very minimal life so that I gain the ability to put things in spaces where they will not be moved unless they have to be cleaned. Less is definitely more. Everything is efficiently placed and things I need for each task are all placed within reach. I use open shelves instead of cabinets, see-through food containers and boxes with individual purpose. Some people would tape labels on things but I just label them in my brain. I change and organize my environment to work with me.

There’s also so much importance in the ability to say no. We are the most empathetic creatures after all and this makes us people pleasers at the cost of our sanity. The only fix I found for this is to accept that I am wired differently and if people don’t align with me, I will walk alone. This also makes it easy to cut off people with no relevance.

There’s so much more but I think what drives all my fixes is spending time regularly to introspect and developing self-awareness on a daily. When we dedicate time to acknowledge our shortcomings, finding solutions come naturally. And if we live in spaces we control, we can give our unconventional minds the freedom to think outside the box. That is the most gratifying of all. We were never born to just fit in and belong.

Because idiots like us that are always driven to do crazy things must make an extra effort to dedicate moments appreciating what matters.

Places are just places and your perception of what they are is yours alone.

When you embrace that, you stop looking for what doesn’t exist in your bubble and truly give living wherever you are a chance, the concrete jungle included.

Life isn’t good at the beach or the mountains. Life is good everywhere.

Random snippets of life - first real road trip in a long while and I’m nowhere near done. Also Beemo’s first. My soul is pleased.

Something I’m proud of early this month. Apparently, I already have more than enough strength to do salmon ladder. Haha. This was something I’ve been wanting to do since 2017-ish.

Learned under 5 minutes but the thought of falling from a height without shoes is kinda scary coming from a foot injury. I’ll come back for this prepared and hit the top. 💪🏼

Over the years, I’ve been branded as a beach person and people find it unusual that I exist elsewhere. Can’t blame them tho. For a time, my life revolved around chasing waters and storms, and they’ve gotten used to seeing my eyes glisten in front of seascapes and crashing waves.

I’ve given it a lot of thought and it really doesn’t have that much appeal to me anymore. I love the ocean and playing with water, yes, but I don’t see myself living right in front of one. I am finding it limiting. My passion for versatility, the process of heading somewhere, long drives, and the element of surprise for whatever comes along the way far exceeds my need to be where the games happen. I find no sense of fulfillment when the fruits are just on the table.

I am content in my quiet space. I can be anything whenever I choose, exist anywhere whenever I want, and be someone no label can describe. I can be just me.

Besides, it’s difficult to value something if you get to see it every minute of every day.

I’ve always called myself a lone wolf but when Gunter passed, I was made aware that for the last few years, I was never truly alone. Life is different living in a silent and empty home. That was his last lesson.

My appreciation for dog companions has been amplified even more. Here’s a glimpse of life lately. Priorities changed. I just want to live in peace and remain surrounded by things I love. I am currently at my most stable state and there isn’t a single need for more.
